XML Initiative - Your Ideas

Just a quick one. I want to get all of your ideas of what you think the Open XML Initiative should be all about. I have my ideas and I am sure all of the current participants have their ideas, however I want to formulate something to put to all of the founding members to gather an idea of what this Open XML Specification should be all about. So this is just about ideas, good and bad, throw your minds to the wind and give me some ideas.

Here are some of mine that I will be putting forward.

  • Standard for Identifying Property Data (Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Business)
  • Standard for Back Reporting (Property Views, Email Enquiries - Week, Month, Year)
  • Sales and Lease Data (Week Month Year)
  • I understand that there will be a lot more to this, but we do have to start somewhere. We have a great bunch of people from big and small industry, from major portals, to multi uploaders, agents, real estate institutes and property data information companies.

So give me your ideas, this is a working document and if you want to be a part of it, just send an email to peter at agentpoint.com.au

Open Letter - Open XML Initiative (updated)

Update 07/06/2007: The Open XML Initiative is fast becoming a giant with most of the major players now involved. I will be posting over the next 10 days a list of all of the organisations who are now involved.

We now have 3 major portals, 4 major franchises and 5 Multi Uploaders supporting this initiative, and are looking for more involvement from other parties. I will publish a list of supporting companies as soon as I am happy with the involvement. For those waiting to see who else is involved, I suggest not waiting and just get involved!

Just Listed to offer XML data feeds

As reported earlier last month, www.justlisted.com.au are about to offer XML data feeds to their website.

There is still no word on an Australian launch but my guess is that they will test the XML for a few months and then launch the site Australia-wide with some kind of tie in with their popular Trading Post newspaper.

The XML Feeds will be available for the greater Sydney area and Blue Mountains on launch. Just Listed have not provided information on when this will be, but I assume the XML formats will be provided to me in next few weeks.
