Realestate.com.au Launch NEW Property Seller Tool as REA Group Reports $86.8 Million FY Profit + E-Ave Wrap Up

There’s been a NEW Property Seller Tool launched by RealEstate.com.au as the REA Group reports yet another bumper year of profits.

After the latest profit figures announced in yesterday’s article, REA Group posts 29pc rise in FY profit by Darren Davidson in the Australian…

“REA Group, publisher of the popular realestate.com.au website, posted a 29 per cent rise in full-year net profit to an expectation-beating $86.8 million.

Revenue for the 12 months to June 30 was up 16 per cent at $277.6 million, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation rose 22 per cent to $126.0 million.

The company will pay a final dividend of 20.5 cents per share, with earnings per share up 25 per cent to 66.2c.

Greg Ellis, chief executive and managing director of REA, said that the results reflected the strength of the company’s business model and its ability to respond to a changing market environment,” CEO and Managing Director of REA Group Greg Ellis said.

“In Australia, we achieved 15 per cent growth across the residential, commercial and media businesses and surpassed one million downloads of our realestate.com.au mobile apps,” he said.”

…and whilst trying to avoid stating the obvious, realestate.com.au does have the most significant consumer audience in the Australian real estate space, and with their latest deal with News Ltd’s local print media, it only looks like gaining even stronger online dominance (if that’s possible?)…

“In the past six months, REA struck a marketing alliance with News Limited and pushed harder into the mobile space. Under the new deal, which was announced in July, the two companies will offer a joint print and digital package called the Prestige Plus Package, which will allow property advertisers to use both News Limited local papers as well as the REA website and mobile platforms.”

So, any education material that realestate.com.au provide to potential sellers via their site should be something that all Australian real estate agents know about and remain familiar with if they want to stay ahead of the game and in-tune with what a lot of their potential customers are being told.

Realestate.com.au’s NEW Property Seller Guide features 3 main sections.

Maybe REA are conditioning vendors to be able to sell their properties themselves.

“ability to respond to a changing market environment”
      Yep

If the real estate agents did a good job selling the benefits of online advertising and the return of investment on the Vendors money, maybe REA wouldn’t have to explain it themselves.

Ryan your remaks of REA maybe trying to condition the vendors in selling their properties themselves is a another cheap shot at REA, you will always be biased against REA no matter what they do.

Online will always be my best ROI wake up print is dead! Don’t agree?

Being on this site is enough said….

Don’t like Realestate.com.au they have a monopoly on market and they are bullies to Realestate principles.

They have a good product but a bad attitude. If only there was a big competitor that could take them on, it would smash their hold once and for all.

They don’t care about agents at all, even though it’s the agents who sell their products. If I was working for them, I would make some serious changes to their attitude towards the real estate agents.

      well said Christian McDonald.

Do you realise if someone, as you say – “could take them on, it would smash their hold once and for all”

-rather than paying REA for the audience you will be paying another company?
-You obviously pay REA as you see value in their audience and offerings – Which there is no disputing one of the best real estate portals in the WORLD!

Yeaph!! REA has again managed to overcharge small RE offices, overcharge (Con Job it’s a more appropriate word) Rental only RE offices and overcharge to the hilt anywhere where they dont have competition from Domain, North Queensland a very good example.!
Strange enough they demand more money from NQ that they do in Melbourne!!
    Another Con from REA

    • Peter Daverdson August 22, 2012 at 10:03 pm #

What do you mean for overcharging? What dont you think you’re getting, or what should you be getting?
Nothings free but if you’re thinking they’re overcharing and not providing value then just dont list.

After years of brainwashing agents that print is dead and all you need to sell a property is realestate.com.au, seems REA are finally admitting that (dependant on area) a comprehensive print/online advertising package will always perform better than just online on its own.

    • Greg Vincent August 17, 2012 at 11:25 am #

The move to integrate them makes sense, but I agree that it’s an interesting back-flip especially after what State Manager, Tom Ainsworth said only a few months ago Tatiana… http://www.business2.com.au/2012/03/is-it-immoral-for-real-estate-agents-to-suggest-print-vpa/

      • Peter Daverdson August 22, 2012 at 10:01 pm #

I think you have to ask who is winning out of doing more print? Given that News Limited and Fairfax are dead ducks and realestate advertorials are profitable (well I would assume so?), wouldnt it be in News’ best interest?

The agents deserve everything they get, they have their Institutes to back them but they can’t even organise themselves well enough to desert those who rort them in favor of an Industry model.

Makes you wonder how they sell your biggest asset competently,

They’re just like a keystone cops movie, tragic as it is.

    We’ve been over this a million times……….
